In the previous part you have chased all the quabs off the island. So now it's time to see if that changed something. Walk towards the pedestal at the end of the island. Before using the linking book, check the device in the middle of the pool first. All blue lights should be off but one, the last blue light represents yourself so if you link out, all the lights should go out on the device.
Just after you touched the linking panel from the book on the pedestal, you can hear a strange mechanical sound. That sound suggests a large mechanism is activated, although it is too early to tell what. (Ahnonay in both the Deep Island shard and the UAM shard are slightly different: for example, you will not hear any sound when you use the linking book here.)
You arrive in the Ahnonay Cathedral again. Walk forward towards the pedestal at the end of the hallway. Use the linking book to get back to Ahnonay. When you arrive there, you will notice that things look a bit different than before. Quite a bit different... Everything has changed completely. Could it really be that this is the same place as before?
Linking books, as well as Bahro stones and cloths, always link to the same location. There's no known exception to that rule. Granted, the Bahro can do crazy stuff, as well as Yeesha. But the fact remains, no D'ni has ever written a single link to two different places.
Realizing what I've just stated, where you are now must be the same place as where you were when all the quabs were still around. If that is true than a possible explanation would be that you did link to the same place but arrived in another time than before.
But the strange mechanical sound still bothers me, forcing me to not just accept the only likely answer we have at the moment just yet. There's also the issue of having found only one cloth so far. There are seven for each age that has them in the first place. So where are the others? Let's look around here, maybe we can find more of them.
If you look around you see that the rocks of the distant islands have crumbled, the water is gone, thunder is in the air and no sign of life anywhere around you. Yet, the detector in the middle of what used to be the pool, stil has most of the blue lights lit. The only other thing you see around you are tree-shaped crystals. Could these be responsible for the detector still detecting something on the island? Let's see what happens when you approach one. If you touch the crystals or walk over them they disintegrate. If you check the blue lights on the detector now, you should see that one or more lights that were lit before are no longer lit. So it seems that the crystal trees are detected by the device in the pool. That means that instead of having to chase quabs here, you have to walk over or up against each of the crystals that are on this island and the small one with the tower. Talking about the tower, let's check if you can see anything interesting about it now. Walk to the opening in the rock wall. You might as well walk over each of the crystals that you pass by on your way there.
When you've reached the place overlooking the tower, look more closely to the fog surrounding the tower. It looks like a ridge from the rock is forming a walkway, giving acces to the tower. That means you can get there by foot. You'll have to walk around the rock next to you first.
Walk to the edge of the island where the walkway begins. Carefully follow the rock ridge until you've reached the tower. Walk the stairs and at the end you'll see the second cloth. Touch it and walk around the tower. There's a crystal on the back side of the tower. Notice that this tower has no door. It looks like this tower is different from the one you saw in the water version of this Age. Why else would there no longer be a door?
Walk back to the main island and finish removing the crystals from the island. Just like with the quabs, you wil have to search the entire island to find them. Once all of the crystals are gone, walk to the pedestal and use the linking book to leave this Age. Again that mechanical sound right after you touch the linking panel...
Back in the Cathedral, head to the pedestal and link back to Ahnonay. This time you arrive on the remains of an island... in space! You appear to be standing on a large rock, drifting in space, with no equipment whatsoever to breathe and protect yourself from outer space. Did you by any chance during the link evolve from an air breather into a vacuum breather? Probably not. How come the entire planet being destroyed, yet the island and detector device are in exactly the same relative postion as before? Have you noticed that the grass here is as green as though it has no trouble whatsoever living in space.
Still some work to do here, though. The island with the tower seems to have been reduced to a smaller piece of rock. From a distance it doesn't look very interesting, but you have touched a cloth on the tower island, so you should be able to link there via the cloth link in your Ahnonay book in Relto. So let's try that, even though it doesn't look very interesting from here.
So link back to Relto, Use the cloth-page in your Ahnonay book to link back to Ahnonay. When you arrive, you will see the third cloth right in front of you. Walk to it and touch it. If the tower was still here, this cloth would link us inside the tower. Nothing else to do here, so link back to Relto. This time use the page with the linking panel to get back on the main island. Run around the island until you've reached the pedestal. Be careful, as you will need to make a few jumps along the way. Use the linking book to the Cathedral and again that sound that should't be, especially in outer space...
With the three versions of Ahnonay we've seen so far, Kadish was trying to show a past, present and future version of Ahnonay. Why would he do that? As mentioned before, Kadish wanted to be revered as the Grower and in order to achieve that, he tried to fulfill as many of the prophesies about the Grower as he could. As mentioned in the second book of "Words", the Grower was foretold to be able to move through time. So Kadish wanted to show the D'ni that he could travel through time. That's what this Age is all about.
