So far, you've been collecting clues for a few puzzles: the animal puzzle, insect puzzle, eye symbol puzzle and a beetle puzzle. You will continue to collect more clues along the way, but it is time to solve one of them: the eye symbol puzzle. For that, you need to go to the beach with the fish clue.
Ocean or lake: Although the journal describes how ships sailed off from
the beach to other islands, this version of Alabaster no longer has a passage
through the cliffs surrounding the lake. Previous versions did have such a passage,
but it was closed in the latest version, effectively turning the bay into a
lake.
When you reach the beach, you can either run over the dock and jump into the water or simply run into the water from the beach. First, swim to the island in the middle of the lake. It has a ring of upright horns on top, so it is easy to recognise. You can get ashore and explore the island, but right now, there's nothing you can do on the island. It is however, a good place to look around for other interesting places nearby. You should be able to see another, smaller island and behind it a stairway rising from the water leading to a large entrance.
Jump into the water again and swim towards the stairway. When you get closer, you will be able to see an eye-symbol above the entrance. This place is probably linked to the room with the six banners. That room also had an eye-symbol above the entrance.
When you reach the stairway, climb up and remember the eye-symbol above the entrance. Enter the building and turn left. The fifth eye-symbol on the inner wall matches the one above the entrance. There's nothing you can do with it though. Just remember where it is and continue walking through the corridor clockwise. After two more eye-symbols, the path is blocked by some large pieces of rock. You'll have to jump to get past them. There is a crack in the wall on both sides. This is the same place that you saw earlier in the room nearby the meteorite. Behind the crack in the inner wall is indeed a journey cloth.
Continue walking clockwise through the corridor. The second eye-symbol, counting from the crack in the wall, also has the same symbol as the one above the entrance. This is also the only symbol in this corridor that you can click on. Go ahead and click or press the eye-symbol with the red circle in it.
As soon as you press the eye-symbol you will hear a sound nearby. That's a secret door, opening on the other side of this corridor, where the other eye-symbol with a red ring is. Run to the other side (you can go both ways, left or right) and walk through the door as quickly as you can, as this door closes again after some time.
Inside the secret room is a little maze. You are face to face with another eye-symbol. It's the same symbol, only in a different color: green. It's the button to open the secret door again. In this little maze are two important places: 1) A journey cloth, and 2) The eye-symbol puzzle in the center.
To navigate through this maze, the following abbreviations are used: L = left,
R = right, S = straight. To get to the third journey cloth: go LRLSSLLS. Touch the
journey cloth, it will show that it's actually the fourth cloth, but the actual
third one comes later. To get to the center of the maze: go SRRLRL.
(Should you ever need to get to the center from the secret door: LRLSRRL.)
In the center of the maze you will find the eye-symbol puzzle. There are five eye-symbols here and each has a foot-pedal underneath it. You need to use the foot-pedals in the correct order. The six banners from the eye-symbol room do not contain the same symbols. Some of the banners have other symbols on them than the ones you find here. You can exclude the banners that have one or more symbols that are not present in this room. That gives you only two banners that could hold the correct sequence to use here. One of the two banners however, has the symbols in the exact same order as the symbols you find here. You can exclude that one too. That leaves you with the sequence from the fifth banner (or the second from the right) that should be the correct one. Use the foot-pedals in that order (25341) and a secret door will open in the middle of the room. A hatch is revealed and as soon as the way is clear, climb down the ladder.
Down the ladder you will find a small room with Yeesha's symbol on the wall. Walk past Yeesha's symbol into a tunnel that leads to a similar cave as the Bahro cave in the tree in the Cleft. Nearby the stone pedestal is a pole with a hand-symbol. Touch the hand-symbol and watch the next animal clue being revealed. It's the frog with the number 3.
Left from the stone pedestal you should see a little archway above the water. Walk into the water (left from the tunnel) and walk or swim into the tunnel. It is possible that you fall into a lower part just before the entrance of the tunnel. In that case, you will meet a fish that swims in circles. There's also a closed gate, but you cannot go through. Go back and head towards the white stone.
Enter the tunnel and follow it all the way until you reach the end of the tunnel. There, you will find a platform with a ladder going down into the water. There are also a few cylinders of oxygen. To the left is a wooden plank going outside the cage. You can go back to the beach if you use the plank. You can also take a dive into the deeper parts of the lake. For that, take the ladder down. You won't find any cloths or clues down there, but it will be interesting...
Climb down the ladder from the platform. You will end up on a piece of the strange multi-colored what-is-it? From here, they look more like roots from a plant. A huge plant in this case. It would explain why the land was drained of water, after these roots appeared there. That would make the meteorite a giant space-seed, or a ship carrying the seed.
Step off the platform on which the ladder ends. Let yourself sink as far as it will go. You end up near the bottom. There are more alien roots here, some other plants and a large jug. There are two tunnels here, one going horizontal and one behind the jug, going upwards. Enter the tunnel going horizontal first. At the end you get to see more alien roots and a couple of fish swimming around. One of the fish is rather big...
Remember where the exit of the tunnel is that you just came from and swim back through the tunnel to the area with the large jug. Swim towards the jug. To the left of it is the entrance to a tunnel going upwards. Swim into that tunnel and keep going until you reach the end of the tunnel. At the end is a slope you can walk on. Keep walking forward and go towards the area in the corner to the right. Do not walk down the slope to your left, or up the slope to your right. Instead, stay at the same altitude (or rather depth as you are underwater here) and follow the slope around the corner to the right. At some point, you will reach the edge of the slope. Walk off the edge and let your avatar sink until it can swim again. Keep going in the direction of the corner, or just follow the green-blue path on the ground beneath you.
After a while, you should see along the green path on the ground another area that is in a deeper spot with blue ground and some stone remains. Try to swim towards it. However, you need to get deeper to reach it. Look for a large black rock that sticks out of the rock formation above the deeper spot. You can swim down against the rock here and slowly descend until your avatar drops down deeper at some point.
You may have to walk further down the slope, depending on where you drop down, but eventually you'll be swimming above the bottom of the lake. Here, you see pieces of the alien roots, some plants, a statue and a shipwreck. There's nothing you can do here, but it's interesting...
To the left of where the statue is pointing, you will find a cave. It leads back to the area with the big fish. Swim into the cave and follow it all the way to the end. You can swim up against the rock at the end and climb up. Follow the way up along the blue wall to your left. Where the blue wall ends, you can climb further up until you can walk over the blue area. The big fish should be swimming around here somewhere. In the distance, you should see the long alien roots. Most of them are sticking out of the rocks, but one of them is sticking out of the ground. Walk to this one. You can use it to walk further up.
Walk up over the alien root until your avatar starts swimming again. When that happens, turn around and swim towards the alien roots on the other side of this area. Swim up against the rocky area on the left side to reach them.
Climb on the first root and walk over it to the other end of the root. From there, jump over to the root next to it and walk to the other end of that root. Near the end, your avatar should start swimming again. You can now swim to the cave from where you first observed this area. Follow the tunnel to the end and enter the other tunnel behind the jug, going upwards. Follow it to the end and exit the tunnel. A few meters past the exit you will be able to climb the rock wall to your right. It leads to the stairway coming out of the lake, with the eye-symbol above the entrance.
Swim back to the beach with the fish clue. Walk towards the builduings in the cliff in the distance. Walk to the area with the poles in the ground. To the right of the poles is an entrance to a passage with a lantern at the left side. Walk into the passage and follow the path. Turn right at the next fork and follow the path until you're at the entrance of the tunnel with the dragonfly symbol next to it. Enter the tunnel and keep walking until you reach the wooden door. Open the door with the button to your right. Walk through the door and when you're past the pile of baskets, turn around. Wait for the wooden door to close again. When it is closed, a niche is revealed with a basket in the corner. Walk up against the wall here to open another door. Walk into the corridor that is revealed after the wall is lowered. The corridor leads to a gate with a key symbol next to it. Press the key symbol to show a book, click the book, then the linking panel to begin the next part of alabaster.
