Elodeas Unterwelt - Part 2: City Exploration

In the previous part you entered the underground city and found three journey cloths. Standing in front of the city map and facing it, the next place to go is the gold mine. The gold mine is the first structure on the right of the building you're standing by now. The stairs to get to the mine are on the left side of the structure. So, walk into the first alley and find the stairs going up. The stairway starts at the back side of the structure. Once there, walk up the stairs and follow the path leading to a higher area.

Like Walking In Circles...

You should see a few boulders lying near the edge of the higher area. Turn right and follow the ledge along the mountain clockwise. It leads towards the mine entrance. While standing in the mine entrance, you could go left or right. Left leads to a dead end, so take the right path. Follow the path and walk or jump over a few rocks lying in the path. To the left is another entrance. Like with the first one, the left path leads to a dead end, so take the path to the right. You'll have to jump over a few rock boulders a few times. Keep following the path until you hit a dead end. A few meters before the end of the path you could see a room to your left. Walk into the room. You'll find a few bags of gold and few piles of gold bars lying around. There's also a large dagger stuck in the rocks. It looks a little bit like the Riven dagger. Nothing to do here, so head out of the room and walk back the way you came. After a few meters you should see a fork in the path. Take the path to the right. It will take you to the fourth journey cloth. (Actually, this is cloth nr. 3.) Touch the cloth and head back out of the mine to the outer mine entrance.

While standing in the mine entrance, facing the outer walls surrounding the underground city, turn right and follow the ledge until you see a stairway going down on your left hand side. Take the stairs down and at the end turn right and walk towards the next mountain structure. Stay on the left side of the mountain structure and follow the path along the mountain structure. At the back side is the entrance of the water garden. You could go in there, but there's not much to see.

A Star To Guide You

Close to the entrance to the water garden is a bridge leading to a mountain structure indicated on the map as "Galaxy". Cross the bridge to get there. To your right is a large open door. Enter the building through the open door. Like in the mine, you can go left and right. Again, the left path leads to a dead end, so take the right path. Follow the path until you reach the end. There seems to be a balcony with a journey cloth up there, but you cannot reach it from here. Head back out of the building. While standing outside, in front of the large door, turn right and walk around the mountain structure clockwise. At some point you should see a stairway going down on your left and an entrance into the mountain structure on your right.

A peculiar view
A peculiar take on the Galaxy

Go to the right into the room with the spinning red ball. This is a weird place. But really, if this is the galaxy, then my head is a nuclear plant... Anyway, walk to the back side of the room, behind the spinning red ball. The red ball is most likely a star. This star has a solid ring around it that you can step onto from the back side. Walk up the ring until you're at its highest point. From here you can walk to the center part of the star. Press the button that you see there. Turn around and you will see that a walkway is being extended towards the star. As soon as the walkway is fully extended, walk over it towards the wall with the animated galaxy on it. This wall is different from the rest of the walls. Step through it to find yourself on the balcony that you saw before but could not reach. Touch the fifth cloth. Turn to the left and walk back through the wall to the galaxy room. The button on your right will extend the walkway again, but you don't need to use it as you can just step off the balcony here. Head out of the galaxy room.

Greengarden

When you exit the galaxy room, turn right and follow the path around the mountain structure clockwise. Ignore the stairway on your left. You can also ignore the first bridge on your left and keep walking in a clockwise manner until you reach the second bridge on your left. Cross the bridge and keep walking forward towards the entrance with a grassy area behind it. Enter the grassy area with three stone faces. This is the greengarden. Walk towards the third stone face. Then turn left towards a niche in the corner. To your left is a ladder going up. Climb the ladder. Walk around the ropeladder and climb it. You end up in a wooden cabin with a doorway. Exit the cabin through the doorway and walk the rope bridge towards another cabin. Once you're in the second cabin turn right and walk the rope bridge to the third cabin. Turn left and walk another rope bridge towards the fourth cabin. Here you'll find the sixth cloth. Touch it and walk back the way you came until you're back on the grass with the three stone faces. Leave the area through the exit.

A Place To Remember

Exit the grassy area and turn left. Walk around this mountain structure counter-clockwise and walk over the first bridge that you come across. At the end of the bridge turn left and walk towards the large open doors. Enter the buiding through the door. You're now in the church.

There's not much to do in the church. No books to read and the organ plays just one tone. There is another exit leading to the outer corridors that surround the city. If you were to leave the church through that exit and turn left, you would see a dead end with a tapestry on the wall and a blue button to the left of the tapestry. The blue button won't work until you've found all seven cloths. So head back to the church and leave the church through the large doors. Turn right and head over to the lanterns you see about 10 meters away from where the door of the church is.

Searching For The Final Cloth

The two lanterns mark the beginning of a stairway leading to a lower level where the hospital is. Walk down the stairs and at the end turn left. Walk towards the bowl with flames standing next to the hospital entrance. You can explore the hospital, but there is nothing to do inside. All you'll find there is a few rooms with beds and a kitchen. Exit the hospital and turn left. Walk counter-clockwise around the building and take a good look through the windows of the hospital. The first window is, like most other windows in the city, not transparant. But starting from the second window, the rest of the hospital windows are transparant so that you can look through them and see what's inside. Starting from the fifth window it is getting really interesting. There seems to be a maze below the hospital.

Looking through the hospital windows
Looking through the hospital windows

If you look through a few more windows you might be able to notice that one of the doors on the opposite side of the maze looks different from the rest. Let's head over there. Walk back to the end of the stairs with the lanterns on both sides, just past the entrance of the hospital. There are no stairs leading further down, so you will have to walk off the edge here to land on "ground level". If you insist on getting there without jumping, you should head back to the galaxy mountain, as the first stairway down is in that location.

When you've reached the alley in between the hospital and the greengarden, you should see a lantern pole with a wooden cart next to it. A little further is an alley with a closed gate. That area is a little preview on the last episode of Elodea. It's inaccessable for now. While standing by the lantern pole with the wooden cart, turn your back towards the lantern pole and the wooden cart. You should see a stone arch in front of you. It doesn't make sense to build an arch without there being a window or door. That probably means that there's a hidden door. Now, where would the button for that door be? It took me quite some time to find the button as i do not cranck up my brightness and contrast settings all the way as Uru's calibration tool would like me to do. Anyway, it was the '/glow' command that made me see the button eventually. It is close to the arch, on the right side. Press it to open the hidden door.

The Maze

This little maze is not that hard, although the architecture seems a little bit out of place. Having said that, I could say the same of the middle-eastern style buildings, but I don't feel like going into that now. So, walk into the corridor, take the first corridor to the left. Next, the first corridor to the right. Then the first to the right, the first to the left, the third to the left, the second to the left and the first to the right.

The final cloth
The final cloth

Touch the seventh cloth. Turn to the right and walk back a few steps, turn left, turn right, turn left, turn left and walk through the open door. At the end you see a pedestal with a linking book. It's the linking book to the next episode of Elodea: 'Elodeas Tunnelgang'. Although you have found all seven cloths, it is no use going to the corridor with the tapestry on the wall. At least not yet. That is because the room behind the tapestry contains the linking book to the last episode of Elodea: 'Elodeas Schatzenkamern'. But you still need to do a few things in 'Elodeas Tunnelgang' before you should go to the last episode.
